Welcome to the Guernsey Chamber Choir Website

The Guernsey Chamber gave its first performance in 1982 in the Town Church. The choir is an invitation choir that brings singers from across the island to perform challenging choral works which require a consort of fine and carefully balanced voices. The choir specialises in the music of Bach and the Baroque period composers but its repertoire includes music from the Renaissance period through to 20th century works.

Whilst performance of the highest standard remains the choir’s aim, some of the choir’s proudest achievements have been in their work to support and raise funds for charitable causes. Throughout the life time of the choir it has raised money for charities as diverse as famine relief in Darfur, Riding for the Disabled and the RNLI.

2009 has been a momentous year for the Chamber Choir. At St Stephen’s Church on the 4th April, the choir gave the first performance on the Island for 35 years of Bach’s St Matthew Passion. The reviewer wrote: "...having scaled the musical equivalent of Everest, the only question now facing the members of the Guernsey Chamber Choir and Orchestra must be where do they go from here? "

Fortunately, in July 2009, the Guernsey Chamber Choir was invited as special guests, to open the Festival de Musique Sacrée, singing Bach and Bruckner in St Malo Cathedral.

In March 2011, it is intended to present the great Mass in B minor, JS Bach – News will be given on this site
